I have gotten mixed answers to this question: When using the BILLET FUEL FILTER CAP (as sold by Geno's) for locating an electric fule gauge sender, IS the reading considered PRE or POST pressure?

The port is directly in the middle of the top so that should be post filter as the tube from the outlet banjo runs right up the center & has an inlet hole in the top.

I just installed a billet filter cap and FP gauge. I am reading 15 psi at idle with a brand new lift pump. Isn't that the recommended post filter psi? I've heard that pre filter should be a few psi higher. Just my . 02.

I have the billet cap. I was getting very funky readings when tapping this location. I also bought the hose to tap the Schrader valve and got different readings! The fuel pump was just replaced by the dealer and am getting 13 psi at idle from the Schrader/ hose location. I was hoping that the billet cap would be PRE filter as to get another sending unit and monitor both pressures. I have not put the cap back on for measurments since the new LP was installed.

Pre or Post filter?

Which is it? We seem to have conflicting opinions. I won"t guess since I am not sure. Does someone know for sure?????

Would you pleae elaborate more (pre or post?) I am not very familiar with fule flow in our trucks. Thanks!

If you look at where the fuel enters the fuel filter housing (port in rear of housing) and the fuel exits the housing via the (port on the bottom of the housing) going through the filter media on its way to the vp44. Note in this picture of upgraded line there is a port in the line between the filter housing and the injection pump, thats where you could tap for another fuel pressure gauge. :)

Any port in the lid is pre filter. The clean (filtered) fuel passes through the filter and down the tube in the center to go out to the injection pump. Post filter readings are best taken with a tapped banjo or a tee in the line as in the picture above.
