me and a friend of mine are doing some thinking and computer work on a set for billit gears for the dodge transfor case ,,, just trying to see if there would be a good interest for a billit gear set to take place of the chain input and output on the transfor case

Are you going to make a billet housing too then? Where's the counter-shaft gear going to be? Sounds like an interesting project but I don't see how it would work, I'd just make an adapter for the np203.

really kicking the idea around and trying differnt things and how it would work, gona have some drawings done on the cad

Where are you gonna find the room to install two counter gears? Easier and cheaper to give Advance Adapters a call and order up an Atlas T-Case.

the amount it would cost to do it wouldn't be worth it compared to an atlas witch has a lifetime warenty and i have yet to see one break but then again not sure if they have had the kinda power the 5. 9 can put down, but hey you break it they fix it.

only the gearsets and case are lifetime. shafts and other internals are 1-year and subject to as "abuse" clause. Not sure if they consider over 400hp and 750lb-ft as abuse or not.

you maybe right about the cost ,we where thinging the samething ,, are there guys breaking them ? where going to see what we can come up with before we get in over are heads

Have you ever had one open and on a bench? There really is no extra room in there, and you can't just drill a couple of blind holes in the case and think it will hold countershaft gears without breaking. You need to factor in a new case along with these 'gears', so in other words, you'll need an entire new transfercase designed, like the others have said, just get an Atlas, or be content with rebuilding them once in a while.

If the strength of the Atlas case is in question check out the STAK transfer case. STaK 4x4 Inc. The size of the Atlas t-case gears falls somewhere between a Dana 300 and an NP205. The gears in the STAK unit are comparable to those in the NP205. Chris
