Does any one know or have purchased from the ebay site where they have the Bilstein's. it says that they work on 1500-3500's. Genos says they have ones specificlly desogned for CTD 4wd applications/... ... . Are these one and the same/..... Should I stick with the Genos or is there a stock # I need to look out for. My truck is approaching 100k and I need to swap out the originals... Thanks in advance :)

I believe the ones that Genos has are valved for the CTD (by Kore??).

the others are just generic, one valve-fits-all bilsteins.

Use the part munber from Geno's BE5-2549 and BE5-2550 and visit Offroad Warehouse's website. You can get these shocks from there for a TDR member price of about $263. 00 for a set of 4. I just recieved mine the other day. It's by far the cheapest price I could find.

I had been looking at shock choices for a while and after surveying CTD owners opinions, I decided to go for the Bilstien 5100's. These are not the OEM replacement yellow and blue shocks. They are the brushed aluminum with black boot shock. Geno's only shows these for the 3rd gens. I went to my local 4wd/diesel shop and got what I thought was a fair price on them. I saw the blue and yellow shocks for $65 each or so on Ebay, and I got these 5100's for $75 a piece. I thought this was a bargain and he ordered them specifically valved for the CTD and leveling kit.

I just got them installed yesterday and I can't tell you how pleased I am. They ride awesome! Best choice I could have made in my opinion. I highly recommend them!

When I emailed Geno's for the 5100 shocks the person who responded to me had no idea what the 5100 was but he did quote the 2549 and 2550 Bilstein numbers.

What I've seen from Geno's catalog shows the 5100's (silver/black) for the 3rd Gen trucks and the Yellow/Blue shocks for the 2nd gens.

Yep that's where I got mine. They're better all the way around than the Monroe's that were on it before.

Ok, then it looks like I need to be specific when buying the Bilsteins... ... thanks for all the replies... . I'll be getting a set asap... ...

Bilsteins and off road warehouse

I went to buy some bilstein 5100's from Off road warehouse but there price has gone up, the front be5-6681-h5 are on special for $67 & change but the rears be5-6682-h5 are $74. 95 ea, I called them and they wanted more over the phone and no free shipping even ask for TDR discount. I checked performance products website and there prices where cheaper so I emailed AJUSA.com who will price match and got a set of for $285. 00 w/ free shippping a few cents cheaper than performance products.

I would have loved to gotten from off road but wish they had the $66. 99 price they had a few months back when they where out of stock.

Dave

Just ordered the yellow/blue 2549/2550 Bilsteins from Off road warehouse, total 231. 00, no tax and free shipping, pretty decent deal less than 60 bucks a shock... ... Any tricks for the front installation?, rears seem pretty straightforward... . thanks in advance...

hello Plunkett

Just recieved mine via ups cheap free ship/ You beat me on price by . 96 cents/$231. 96 my cost delivered/ ordered on 2/26/06 / now looking for install advice/ cant wait to install them, getting dark and cold out, live in CT so must work around the weather right now/ good luck w/your order/warren

I have had the same shocks on the truck for a couple months now and I love them. Much better than the set that were on there when I bought the truck.

For the front it would help to have any extra set of hands to push back down on the upper shock tower. Or a rachet strap to help compress the shock while you get the 3 bolts started. Other than that is a straight forward install.
