With 14,000 miles on the clock, the OEM shocks started going south. Andy Redmond, TDR guy and Super-Dooper mechanic recomended Bilstein Shocks for the front end. He installed the 5100 Series, F4-BE5-6681-H5 model. The Bilsteins are about 0. 75 inches longer than the OEM's, but bolted right up and work just fine. So, if you are tired of waiting for Bilstein's new shock, get the old model off the shelf and you will be good to go.

I have got 18k on my truck, the stock shocks are still working but I wanted to get the Bilstiens to improve ride/handling, I drive alot usually no load or towing, has the ride improved in your 06 with the Bilstiens, I am assuming that you are stock height, no lift kit. It is a little bouncy on the freeway and when I hit potholes etc.

I've had my 5100's for 8k miles... . I'm happy with the ride quality... but they do still bottom over the big bumps... . I think springs are the only thing to help that... . or maybe the diesel specific valving??
