I just got off the phone with Bilstein and Off Road Warehouse having learned that Bilsteins have just become available for two wheel drive Gen III Rams. I just placed my order for four for my '06. I thought other members would be interested to know this.

The shocks are Front: P/N BE5-C603-H0

Rear: P/N BE5-C605-H0

The shocks are actually for 2003 through 2005 but I have ordered a set to install on my 2006 anyway. With 36,500 miles my OEM shocks have already lost their ability to keep the tires planted on the road when traversing washboard surfaces.

My experience on my previous 2001 Ram was that the OEM shocks were useless by 60k miles and were replaced with Bilsteins. The Bilsteins still work fine with over 322k on the odometer of the Gen II truck.

Off Road Warehouse is just down the street from the Bilstein plant in SoCal and I was told by Bilstein and ORW that ORW will have the shocks and ship them within weeks.

Harvey,

Geno's Garage has had the Bilstein shocks in stock since KORE quite selling them a year ago. It is the KORE Valving that Bilstein adapted to after our testing. The shock is Dodge specific.

Greg,

Well, I'm puzzled. I vaguely remember reading something in this forum about Geno's having shocks but had the impression that they were either not for Gen IIIs or not for 4x2 trucks.

This morning I reviewed Bilstein's website and the Gen III shocks for 4 x 2 Rams were listed as "in development" or such. I called anyway and the young woman I spoke with informed me that they had just been made available but were not even shipped to dealers yet.

Greg,

You brought my omission to my attention. Now that I look back over my original post I see that I didn't specify 2 wheel drive but should have for clarity.

I'll go back and edit it to make it clear.

No 2-wheel drive trucks in Colorado

Heaven help us! There are no 2-wheel drive trucks in Colorado. :) Let us know when Bilstein makes 'em for 4WD generation 3s. I need a set now.

"Since KORE quit selling them" - does this mean that KORE is not including the Bilsteins with their suspension packages? or, did they just stop selling shocks (if they ever did)?

I spoke to someone at Genos a few weeks ago, and I got the impression both the front and rear 3rd gens would be the same from 2003-up to/including the 2006's. I could be wrong, but that is what I was told.

Hi, Greg, I talked to someone at Geno's a couple of weeks ago. They're supposed to see if Bilstein has a new 4WD shock in the offing. If not, they'll send me what they have. It's my understanding there may be two shocks for Gen 3 4WDs, one heavy duty and the other their regular shock (which is stronger than OEM obviously). What are you running?

So, did anyone figure out which Bilstein's are which? Is Bilstein releasing a shock that is different than what Geno's is selling? I would like to upgrade, but I am confused on which shock is which.

Thx.

Sid

I figure Brandon at Geno's will call or email me when he finds out. Otherwise, I'm in no hurry. I'm gonna buy from Geno's regardless.

Harvey, did you get these shocks yet? I want to know if they are working out on your 06 3500 SRW 2wd (like mine).

TowPro,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I've been on the road as usual. Just got home this afternoon and checking e-mails.

No, I have not received the shocks yet. I called Off Road Warehouse a week or ten days ago when I was home last and was informed that they were on backorder to ORW. I don't know what happened. When I posted the notice to TDR members several weeks ago I had just got off the phone after speaking with Bilstein and ORW. The young woman I spoke with at Bilstein informed me that the shocks had just been made available and I would be able to order them immediately. ORW seemed to have the same information when I called them to order. ORW charged my credit card and I thought they would be shipped ASAP. When I recently called ORW to inquire I agreed to let the charge stand in order to have my name remain on the waiting/shipping list.

I'll let the TDR membership know as soon as I get my order.

Shocking issues

I just bought a set of Bilsteins from Geno's for my '03 4WD 3500 SRW and they weren't the P/N BE5-C603-H0 and P/N BE5-C605-H0 just mentioned. I went head to head with Geno's because of some of the jabber that's been going on. Bottom line, there's a lot of unintentional baloney being put out by folks getting wrong information and then repeating it. :-{} Intentional or not, if it's wrong then a lot of folks get confused and here you go. I strongly suggest that shock questions be referred to Brandon or Geno's tech guy (Ken's his name, I think) so everyone gets straight answers. I've also asked Geno's to post correcting information on the board so, hopefully, the jabber goes away.

The first post in this thread states they are for the 2wd 3rd gen trucks. I would guess the 4wd version would be different.

Jerimiah,

Yes, you are correct about a lot of unintentional baloney being put out by folks getting wrong information and then repeating it. Your judgemental and accusatory post is a good example.

Geno's has offered Bilstein shocks for Gen III 4 x 4 trucks for some time, possible a year or two. Shocks for 2wd Gen III trucks have not been available. My post refers to shocks for Gen III 4 x 2 trucks.

Check the Bilstein website. For a 2004 Dodge Ram, they offer 2wd and 4wd shocks for 2500 Rams. They have been developing a heavier duty shock specifically for the 3500 Rams ever since I bought my truck over 2 years ago. Yes, you can use the 2500 specific shocks for the 3500 and I'm sure that they work just fine. I have been waiting forever for the shocks designed for MY truck, not something that will "just work". I spoke to the factory rep 2 years ago myself and was told they were in development and should be available in 4-6 months. That was over 2 years ago. Still waiting and at 75,000 miles my stock shocks may as well not even be there.

Harvey, Its been a month now, did you get these shocks (for your 2WD) yet?
