Bio-Diesel (B-100) Pricing Nationwide

My fuel guy has the totes, $100 deposit. He let me use a 12volt pump to empty it, otherwise they're gravity feed. The pump didn't work too good 'cause there's no vent on top of the tote. Well, there is a vent, but that's where the pump mounts. Suffice it to say they work much better if you can use the nozzle on the bottom of the tote.



No price breaks for volume. He matched the "big guys" price and I was more than happy with that.



The totes I think hold 250gal, I didn't want quite that much.

I got a crash course in taxes on B100 today.



The place where I get Bio:



B100 pumped into cans is $2. 96 a gallon. This is how I have always got it.



B100 pumped directly into vehicle is $3. 41 a gallon ($2. 96 + . 454 road tax = $3. 41)



It cost me an extra $15 to have B100 pumped into the trucks tank.

Just filled up in Sausalito, CA yesterday - $3. 75 per gallon. Things sure are expensive out here in California!

Until the IRS comes out with a #, I'll keep doing it that way.

If I am not mistaken that magic number is 5% or so for additives. After that it may be considered fuel or a fuel extender. I just cannot remember where I read it.

I think Headshot has the idea-if your using anywhere fom B5 to B99 its an additive!

no, that would be B5 and below. B4 B3 B2 B1. B6-B100 would be a real taxable fuel. If I can find that link I'll post it.

When people talk about boycoting the oil co. it doesn't seem possible to do anything becouse of the retailer >ect ...
But with the over charging of bio [ cost of refining . 15 , sell from 1. 89-3. +++ ] it appears that most of the excess cost is closest to the retailer vs dio , so not buying from the gougers may help with the over pricing ,
So buy at about $2. ?? per gal. and tell the guys that you have been getting from what your up to [ if they do not know then they cannot react ]

I tend to agree with you as that makes sense... but we're dealing with the IRS so who knows. I might call it fuel next time just to make things look good. I still say "additive" 'cause I did just "add" it to the barrel. Paying the fuel tax still saves me around 40-50 cents/gal.



The reason you guys out west are paying so much is that someone else is pocketing the $1/gal federal tax rebate. It doesn't work out mathematically, but it's an incentive to use biofuels. Anybody who trashes Dubya for being an "oil guy" obviously doesn't know about the monster $$$ the gov't is giving away as an incentive. I'm not sure who it's all available to, blenders and resellers I think, but you should be able to reap at least some of the benefit.

Nope, that'd be me. As my fuel guy said, "that's a big gray area". So for now I'm running in the gray.

Update

The place that I buy B100 went up in price 2 weeks ago to $2. 47/ gal. That includes tax. The last couple of tankfulls of mixed driving gave me 21 and 20 mpg; so I'm happy with the economy too. Petro diesel was $2. 68 (cheapest I saw) today while driving around.

Was paying 2. 62 a month ago. filled up with B-99 today it was 2. 82 here in tucson,Az

I just bought b99 for $2. 89 a gallon and that is with all taxes. My fuel guy said if I wanted b100 it would cost about $1. 00 a gallon more because of the tax break they get for the blend. Dino diesel is $2. 89 as well.
