What Do You Think Of Biodiesel ????

Fuel BTU’s & CETANE Ratings

OK... here's my bright idea. Maybe this idea has been kicked around before... maybe not.

A bunch of guys get together and form a Bio-Diesel Group. There is ONE very capable WVO Processing Plant with multiple members.

Members can bring in "Crude" WVO and trade it for Processed WVO. In other words Members Only can bring in (lets say) 25 gallons of Crude Waste Veg Oil, dump it into a common tank, drive up to a tank of processed WVO and fill their tanks with XX amount of processed WVO. Whether the amount the Members could drive away with is 50% or 60% or ?% of the amount they brought in would be a function of just how efficient the Processing Plant is.

That's my idea.

One problem I see with that kind of arangement is there is some very poor quality WVO that can be found out there. If you are making biodiesel with it you would be better off getting your own known low titrating, non water contaminated feed stock to process IMHO.

Yup. Garbage in = garbage out. This idea would only work if there were no slackers in the outfit.

But if 5-10 guys got together and did it, it might make more sense than 5-10 guys each cooking their own Bio-d in their garages.

Group

How about the group sharing the expense of the processor based on usage such as (price includes all expenses, elec,. fuel for collection, labor for the person doing the collecting, etc. ) and that way someone all trust responsible for getting good source material. All can make suggestions as to where to find good product and best way to keep it clean, etc. R C

I've tossed this idea around before and I think it is a great one. Before turning the oil in the "manager" of the biodiesel plant could easily run a quick titration on the WVO and easily tell the quality and adjust the "worth" of the WVO based on the results.

I think this type of operation could easily be turned into a profitable business/franchise.

I would love to be able to scrounge up 30 gallons of WVO and trade it for 15 - 20 gallons of biodiesel for free. I think 99% of the biodiesel "homebrews" would do the same. This would leave 30-40% of the extra biodiesel to be sold on the free market to cover operating costs and provide profits. The size of the plant in each city would be proportional to the population. This virtually eliminate any WVO hitting the landfill.

PKitzman---I agree! This sounds like a great business franchise for people with bio-diesel experience. I too would love to scrounge up 30 gallons of WVO and trade it for XX amount of BioD. Somebody take this ball and RUN with it!
