2-cycle oil vs TDR-S for lubricity

Royal Mfg. Co.

Ok, I may have missed a thread somewhere but is anybody out there running bio, and I mean good bio in their 6. 7 cummins? I know that Cummins says we can run 5% , but is anybody tried 10% or up? If so what did you have to do to the system if anything?

It was either Dodge or cummins stated to me that 10% was ok but I used it once and had a problem. I don't know if it was coincidence. I fueled up in Flagstaff AZ with 10% and soon after lost power towing 11k but made it to Laughlin NV. Took it to he dealer in Bullhead City AZ and it was ok with a reprogramming.

Ok, Here' the deal with Biodiesel on the 6. 7 engines and for those of ya that have Fuords or Goverment motors duracraps engines... . The problem is not with the fuel but the after treatment injection to cool the combustion chamber and also to light off the Cat. Problem is that Biodiesel lights off at a higher temp so that post injection does not get to burn and it washes the oil off the cylinder walls and will contaminate the lube oil. If your going to use Biodiesel in an engine with a soot trap type Cat you must change your oil more often, I would send the oil out for testing and use that info to see just how long you can go inbetween oil changes (How much fuel is in the oil) . Biodiesel does alow the Cat to light off at a lower temp and the Cat will run cleaner. I hate to say it but the New Furd engine is a better system it does not use the post injection treatment, it uses UREA injection so they have given it a B20 Biodiesel rateing. I also does not sem to have the problems that we've had with the turbos and Egr's sooting up... . well so far that is. .

what if

Ok, Ed I see where you are going . If you go with a turbo back ehaust with no cat or dpf( which is what I am going to do anyway) also no egr. Will this solve the problem? I am only planning on trying to use 10% bio. Semms like this would be the cure then for low percntage use. I am really not sold on high percentage use of bio or wvo in any engine . I know alot of guys out there have used all kinds of % with great success,,, just my opinion nothig else.

If you eliminate the DPF and EGR, then you should be able to fuel it just like a 5. 9. IMHO!
Thats my plan for the future anyway...

As long as you changethe engine program to keep it out of the ReGen Cat Clean cycle then there is No problem with running BioDiesel up to B100 except that B100 gells at 35 degrees F. I would add aditional filtration but our trucks need that even if you run reg Deisel. Don't run WHOLE VEG OIL the gliserin (sp?) will foul up the nozzles. I've been running B100 every summer and a B20 blend in the winter in my 05 from day one. 130,000 miles later and stil going, I did have an, and just replaced, injector crack but I don't think it was from the fuel as there have been many crack as seen in many threads here on TDR.
