The manual for my 04. 5 says not to use Bio. I suspect this could be a warranty issue if bio is found in your tank and you are submitting a warranty claim for the engine or fuel system. Since Bio was relatively new in 2003, I suspect the concern was over rubber parts in the fuel system.

I've been running B20 off and on for the last three years with no issues. I run it or diluted down to B5 since the intro of ULSD specifically for the lubricating properties. I now only use additives while on the road and don't have access to biodiesel.

Probably more because of inconsistent biodiesel quality concerns than anything else.

All the bio I've seen has been higher then #2 and I can't see paying extra for bio. I have been working on filtration at a "state of the art" biodiesel plant for around 9 months now and have access to free bio. None has ever gone into my truck. I do tend to be very conservative when it comes to risk vs benefit decisions. Just don't see the slight benefit from bio being worth any risk of long term issues. Especially now when the truck may sit for long periods with the same fuel in the tank.

For the past month, the Navy Exchange at Kings Bay has had B20 for$3. 09 per gallon. I finally broke down and tried it. My first 500 mile round trip home, I had a 1. 5 mpg increase. Hand calculated. I didn't notice a tail wind or anything so I was shocked.

I've been running it for a month now and have noticed an overall increase of 1 mpg. Problem is that it went to $3. 95 a gallon on Wednesday.
