Bio vs. Big Oil

Azure

Does anyone have any feedback on the BioDiesel you can produce yourself with used cooking oil??? Will it work in the Cummins engines and does it void warranty?

i so can't wait for alternate diesel ( vegetable, soy, bio... whatever) fuels to become the standard.

i've read that (but can't verify) that it's reasonably easy to do what you're asking here. i was interested for awhile but i didn't have the facilities. you need storage space for this project.

there are descriptions on the internet for the process. here's one.

i've never tried it and don't know anyone who has. just heard stories.

it does seem like the right thing to do and would like to try it.

as far as warranty... . i have no clue. i've heard that it's acceptable and also that only a percentage is acceptable.

Hay Kevin , if would check out the area where you reg. you should find a spot to fill in your truck info and when you have a problum its easyer to help , but this topic is some what general , except for some storyies about the comin rail fuel systems , and there are a lot of people using anywhere from 2-100% bio , then its a mater of making it yourself or its from a fuel station then its got to be within federal standards, and all of the above have good & bad , so especaly if your thinking about making , then lots of research becouse you can spend $200-6,000 to get set up to make and your truck if knew could be as much as $35,000 & up so you don't want to , I going to stop with the obveouse and give a few more sites.

I have a Common Rail engine and I've been using B20 for 4-5 months now without a problem. The truck runs great. My in-laws are making thier own and I'm currently looking into doing the same. I know some people try different things. One guy I talked to runs a 50/50 mix of #2 and filtered WVO in one tank. Others make the biodiesel and don't wash it. I personally wouldn't put anything but good/washed biodiesel in the tank.

Kevin

I am with MR C. go to the infopop website and start reading. Some of the other sites are just full of bad info and will have you confused and misinformed.

As far as your warranty, dont know. I run bd in my 98. 5 and it loves it. There are a lot of people making their own, and if done right, is everybit as good or better than what you will get at the pump. This site has a girl named mark, she wrote the book on the appleseed processor, this is your best resource for good solid answers and instructions what to and not to do.

Good Luck

Dirk

ps the website is doin some upgrading,I have been having trouble gettin on tonite, If not tonight look tomorow. ;)
