When I do and oil change on my 05 3500 my oil pressure will drop to the redline when at idle but come up with RPM's. After driving about 50 miles on the new oil change the pressure will stay above the mid point even at idle. This started at about 50,000 miles. Currently at 58,000. Can anyone tell me if this is bad and what's happening?

Hopefully you are using a quality oil and filter... . That being assumed, I would suspect that the oil pressure sender is failing... From what I understand, the gauge on the dash is more of just an idiot switch that is being controlled by the sender. .
