I made arrangements today for some DD3's. Originally was thinking of just going with 275's but the price has gone up and I felt like if I was gonna spend the money I would spend it on something stronger. You can check out the signature, I already have a comp box, from what I gather here unless I am misinterpreting I should expect that with the DD3's in and the box off and acting just as a boost fooler I should feel about the same as I did with the stock injectors and the comp on level 4. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now my understanding is that with the box off I should be able to hook up my trailer and for the most part EGT's will be good. I anticipate I may have to watch it on the steeper grades. This leaves the comp as a play time add-on but probably too much for every day cruising. I already straight piped the exhaust and am running a BHAF, with the comp on 5x5 I have never been able to put EGT's above 1300* and never sustained anything over 1200*. If I leave the Comp on 5x5 right now my average EGT @ 75mph (2700 rpm) is about 750* when running empty.

I don't want to have to go to a larger exhaust as I love the sound I already have and I already have the pac brake and everything installed.

Is there any pitfalls you guys see to my approach or understanding?

I don't plan on doing anything else to the drive train, in all honesty I am already more than happy with the power I have, the injectors are mostly because it is supposed to be easier on the pumps.

Thanks for any input you can offer.

Turbo? If your running stock turbo you may have to keep out of it pulling with the DD3's. I have relatively the same setup except I have the B1 Quickspool turbo and my pump wire is tapped.

With my DD3's and Comp, it seems to me that I actually have less fueling going on at level 1x1 than I do with the box off. At least my SOP meter and smoke:rolleyes: tell me so anyway.

You will find it runs a little cooler on 1x1 than with the box off. How heavy is your trailer?

I have found I can't go up 6% grades with 10k behind me at 75mph.

Injectors seem to deliver the power more evenly, I tend to get surging with the box turned up, that I don't get with just the injectors.

Heaviest I have pulled in the last couple of years is about 16,000 Usually more around 14,000. Every once in a great while if we are moving hay then we can get alot heavier but that is very short trips and it is usually downhill from our pastures that are up in the hills.

Great combo, you will have no problems what so ever as long as you watch your pyro. I have used the same combo for quite a while and i gross 22-23k loaded. The only time i find it a little warm or smokey is when at altitude above 6k. But even then, gear selection and an easy right foot can handle that. The coolest part is that you wont find anything on the road that will run up the hills as fast as you can. I love passing cars on hills with the trailer in tow. Oh yeah, dont go to a bigger turbo for towing until you drive the thing, you might just be surprised how well the hx35 tows with that combo. You can see in my sig what turbo i play with, but for towing my 5th wheel, i usually put the 35 back on. I find i can hold a gear longer with the smaller charger.

With the EZ's data link cable unplugged (i. e. , it's acting only as a boost fooler) and DD2's, my max pre-turbo EGT's were only 1100 degF. Plugging the EZ back in on setting #2 after installing the Con OFE, max EGT has jumped back to 1225 degF (so far - that was at 60-70 degF ambient temperature). These temps are pulling our 36' 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us at 10,380 GVW (10,500 GVWR) and 21,180 GCW (21,500 GCWR).

After switching from the stock injectors to the DD2's, I can now accelerate up hills that had the speed dropping off when towing with the stock injectors. :D

I'm curious what people are seeing with regards to EGT's with the ETC compared to the ETH. Does the ETH tend to run a little warmer when bombed?... specifically with the EZ and DD2's. .

I am guessing so, I know with just a comp, My brothers eth, runs hotter than my etc, with just a comp.

For my setup, another area I have noticed a difference is I don't get as hot as another of my friend's trucks when pulling and the only difference is my 4:10's vs. his 3:54's, so I am guess the gearing makes a difference too when working the loads.
