yep. . we had one of them new ISBe's at school with that valve cover [but it didn't have the little red isb on the side and cummins on top of it ] and my engines teacher didn't like the suggestion about me "trying" it out on mine :-laf :-laf

ok if i had a cummins dealer close i would look into that anyone have any pricing anyone have any valve cover that will fit a 3rd gen that i can play with. I will have to try my new tig welder and weld in the vent tube. .

ya I think I am gonna run a banks sticker on the snap on truck and a flat landers suck sticker, shoot maybe through in a cummings and a harley sticker too

This is one mod I am definately jonesing for. Anything to get rid of the cheap plastic doodaw, yeesh. If I remember right, Vaughn sold the 03 and the cover separately before the project was complete.



DF5152, if you figure out the vent tube work around I would think you could market that pup to a bunch of folks with a little markup for your time and materials.

Nickleinonen, what supplies the common rail with fuel on that motor.

Is it a CP3 or somthing different.

A CP3 that will not fit your gear housing.

The CP3 on the midrange engine is a reverse rotation pump. It fits into the gear case on the back of the engine. Cummins did this in order to make servicing easier.

Gypsyman, Trail Dog's right, I sold the '03. Blake Underwood has V/C now but I don't think he's had a chance to do anything with it.



I have the PN somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up. Mine is slightly different than the one I posted the pic of, it doesn't have the recessed area around the fill hole.

i just need to find a factory cover thats not being used and one of the other ones to make a prototype.

If your proto works out you might run a post to see if there are enough folks interested in purchasing a modified one to do a "production" run at a price that would make it worhwhile.



Or if the modification is so simple a DYI with pics would be great too.

i really didn't have a chance to give it a good look [i was there for 8 weeks for my apprentice schooling and most was in class cramming the PT fuel system and the DDC mui's ] from the fuel rail up it was identical to ours... from there down, it looked very similar to the ones we have except it was all rear geartrain. the HP pump looked similer...



and they had bhaf filters on it [the isbe] and the isx across from it :-laf
