I need new tires and have decided to splurge for wheels any experience with any of the below models or pics of trucks.
1) ATX 189 ledge teflon coated.
2) Rockstar black... . I know alot of people have them. Does the finish hold up?
3) Ultra has a black painted wheel that i also wonder how they finish will hold up?
4) Vision crazy eightz... . just noticed them they look even better than all the above.

I know these arent big baller wheels like those cool new welds... but it is within the budget??

Any input??

Thanks

Go for it.

V10,

I don't have experience with these brands, but in general, I've seen lots of wheels (white, chrome, black, aluminum, color matched) and a lot depends on the environment and care they get. Thy should hold up well; I'd go for it!

I can't say much about the ATX or Vision, but the Rock Star 775XDs hold up very well, and the Ultra's appear tough, so far. I've sold several sets of Rock Star's, and most are not used very hard. Some are used pretty hard, and while they do scratch, it's not that easy. The center caps tend to be the worst problem I see. They get broken fairly easily on the front wheels.

The finish on most black wheels is black powdercoating or paint, covered with a laquered-clearcoat. It's fairly tough, but can be scratched, much like the clear coat on your trucks paint. Keeping it clean and dry is the best maintenance.

JHumphries, I like those, but I prefer the classics!!! The 058 is my favorite, right behind the Alcoa's!! :D

The problem with availability is they only make them in certain runs. I've got 8 sets of the 058 and one of the 097 on order in 17"..... The 058's have been on order since August. I'll get them as they become available. Typically, they stay on backorder, then they'll fill the orders when they get made... . Last year, I only got 3 sets and lost 2 sales as the guys found them elsewhere. Large retailers take priority, leaving me with what's left, so I ordered a few extra, just in case I get them. The 16" can be found in a few places... . Alcoa released their 17" a few months ago..... The Eagle 058 is $850 a set, the 097 is $810, and the Alcoa is $1260..... :D

HHuntitall, if I were to get chrome, I would also go with the 058. But I think the black would look really good on my dark blue truck. And the original question was for black as well.
I like plain looking wheels. No fake beed lock hardware, not a lot of detail, just plain, simple, and attractive. If and when I get the 097, I will have the center caps powder coated to match the rim, but leave the nuts chrome.

Hey, everyone to their own, but I like the chrome/polished aluminum. I've driven class 8 trucks for years, and I guess I can't get out of the habit of chrome trim on everything..... Even had a pair of chrome dice hanging from the sun visor at one point..... :D I like neutral colors, trimmed in the polished way... . On my '03, I found some SS handle covers, the window trim covers, and the window trim visors... . I want to polish the front fairlead and get it glossy, but I'm too busy. The black bumpers, steps, and tires offset nicely, IMO.

Nothing like having to put on your sunglasses at first light because the reflection from the dash is blinding you..... :D

I'm a fan of chrome as well, I just think the dark look on the dark blue paint will be kind of sinister...
My blacked out Harley kinda started me on that one. Since I live in Seattle, less to polish is good. :D
