Is this Flashlight a Joke or for Real????

How many members will be out in my neck of the woods this year, either just to play tourist in the hills or to come for the Annual motorcycle Rally?

Ah Sturgis...

I can remember the sights and sounds of the annual Black Hills rally. Wait a minute I am not being honest here and I need to redo this.

Ah Sturgis. .

I think I remember going to the Annual Black Hills Rally. Oooppss, thats still not correct. I know I left to get there and a week or so later when I unpacked my roll I had the shirts and a few pictures from the goings on in the campgrounds,so I think I was there. I have a vague memory of waking up from a evening of fun and then taking all day to find my scoot. Those were the days and someday I'll get back there again. I only hope that the Sturgis rally doesn't get over run by the yuppies like Daytona has and get ruined... ... ... Andy

Sturgis slightly milder than it used to be ( which means it still gets pretty damn wild), but to me that means it is at about the point where you can have a blast and let your hair down (some let more than that down) and yet it is held under enough control that you don't have to walk around feeling like your life is in danger just by being there. Still alot of idiots that get plastered and then think they can still ride their bike though. That is one thing I can always count on for job security (unfortunately). Seems like they are more accepting of the "alternative" bikes as well. Used to be you could literally get yourself killed if you showed up with something other than a Harley, but there is alot more variety and alot more interaction going on amongst the different owners as well. This year should be good overall, sounds like they have some good entertainment coming in. Buffalo Chip especially. Nice part is there is alot more going on around the rally too. Rapid has stuff going on that week, there is the Ham and Jam over in Wyoming that folks can make a run to. If you go and all you do is see Sturgis itself you are going to miss alot. Kind of interesting when you have a state with a population like South Dakota's (especially when about 2/3 live East of the Missouri) and then throw that many people into the area for about a week and a half.

Made it in 87 and 89 might make it this year. First time we went was two of us and we stayed out in a cabin in Spearfish Canyon second time was about 6 of us and we stayed in Spearfish. I had my Softail and ole Norm rode his Sportster XL 1000 with the small tank. He ran out of gas twice so we had two siphon some out of mine to get him to the next gas station. My son just bought him a XL1200C Sportster and I could not let the boy out do his ole man so I got me a Road King Custom :-laf . He wants to go so we might make it.

Let me know if you will be up here, I will be working on the ambulance in Spearfish that whole week. There are only 5 or 6 of us that are Medics that are always available so we get busy that time of year, but if you are in Spearfish stop by the ambulance, you will see my dually sitting out front. The new ambulance barn is right on the main road not too far from where you turn to head up Spearfish canyon.
