Black smoke on acceleration

Hello all.
I recently made 2 simultaneous modifications to my truck and now it produces black smoke on acceleration. This happened after changing my injectors to original new Bosch 275 hp RV injectors and my turbo to a BD diesel Modified stock turbo. http://www.dieselperformance.com/index.php/product/index/344P
I believe I remember reading somewhere that this setup is best when used in conjunction with some type of fueling or timing box? Does anyone else have this type of setup? Do you get smoke on acceleration? Did you fix it with an electronic box, and if so, what brand did you buy? I'm hoping I didn't do something wrong during my injector install or I got a bad turbo? Thanks for your help.

Black smoke is usually the result of aggressive fueling from too large injectors and/or not enough air flow to burn the fuel. I am not familiar with your exact set up so cannot tell you on how too specifically correct it. On later models, UDC or EFI tuning can be used to reduce smoke, but that is not available for your 2001. Hopefully someone else chimes in.

The 275s are clean running. Look to the turbo size and or boost leaks. A better description on when it smokes,rpm,load etc may also help. Are you blacking out intersections or just a haze under initial accell

The smoke is more than just a haze but doesn't blacken the intersection or block my rear view. It's pretty sustained though if I keep my foot in it. I'm pretty sure I don't have a boost leak since I have consistent boost on my gauge. I have noticed some oil leaking out a bit around my boost hoses. Could my new turbo be leaking oil already causing this?

What is your boost at wot? Do you have a boost fooler?

I think oil make blue smoke, diesel makes black smoke. Sounds like the turbo has a spooling problem and/or is not set up correctly! And you should NOT be seeing oil down stream of the turbo.

Also you your checked the filter box for an animal nest?

I've got about 23 psi at wot. No boost fooler installed. The smoke does appear to be black. My filter box is clear. Forgot to mention that I also installed an exhaust brake at the same time, but shouldn't have any effect on smoking, right?

That is pretty low boost for a modified stock turbo. I would be talking to BD and pulling a hose to see if you have an oil film on the inside of all the plumbing and intercooler. One of the lower hoses use to get cut by the lib of the sheet metal fender well on some trucks.

BTW!!! Driving inverted as in your avatar leads to serious issues. Just think about what would happen if my RAM hot air ballon was inverted!!!!
