I was curious how many of you 600 guys have this same issue ??

under normal accel and driving no smoke clear exhaust ... ... but when I open it up for rapid accel the black smoke makes look like an ole Boeing 707 taking off..... it almost looks like I have an after market box on...

I really don't mind the smoke and all but just find it kind of funny :D that my 02 HO 6 spd never smoked unless I was at high altitude and opened her up

So I guess what I'm trying to say is I think that my 600 is a bigger emissions hog than my 02 ;)

I had better call the CARB and report myself:--) so much for cleaner air in California

Mine does it too, but only occasionally. I take it pretty easy most of the time because this is my daily driver and I try to save a little on fuel. When I womp it off the line the cat (aka, soot trap) will let go of all that stored-up soot that it's been collecting.

Mine blows smoke especialy when I stomp on it to pass on the interstate. I love it when I look back and see some slow driver get smoked out. I thought about taking it in for service. I thought I was the only one that had it happen. I will let you know when I get it in. I also get a little white smoke when it is cold. Do you get that?

Mine does it also. If I've been driving with the cruise set at 65 for an hour or so and get on it, I leave a very impressive amount of black/gray smoke. If I do it again right away, I get much less. I also get a nice puff of white smoke on start up, then it stops. I'll compare my smoke to a Gulfstream 2 taking off.

Just a small follow up... ... ... ...

I experimented yesterday ... . I drove from work to home & home to work about 190 mile round trip with the filter element removed... ... ... just to see if it made a difference in engine response and the smoke issue... .....

WOW  smoke almost non existent just a slight haze now and engine response seemed better..... also it seemed as though the mpg was slightly better but with out doing it over several tanks it would be tough to tell... ..... I just don't wanna drive that many miles with no filter... . I believe I'm gonna need to look into some improvement for the air system afe or ???? but it will be on my list of upgrades as it was in my 02 HO

just thought i would pass it along... ...

Truck is great and I love it 8830 miles it has exceeded my expectations... ..... now to get 200,000 more just like it

Now that you mentioned the AFE air filter I also get less smoke than I use to under the same situations. The stock filter under a heavier load would smoke. With the drop in Pro-Guard 7, not nearly as bad. I haven't noticed a fuel mileage change but atleast I'm not spending $30/filter every few months.

I am also considering the AFE drop in. My only cocern is the oiling aspect. I heard if you dont get it just right you may have problems. Is it difficult to do corectly. I just checked mine at 5100 miles and the gauze pad is pretty dirty. Must be that Long Island air.

My 600 make a very light haze sometimes, Im not really payin attention cause the 02 I sold was a chain smoker!!!!!

The other day a PowerChoke was following me up a local road. I noticed he and his passenger had their arms out the windows so I floored it. He only tried to stay with me briefly until the smoke overpowered his desire to race. I'm sure he had to go home and degrease his windshield and grill. Only does that when I accelerate hard. Stops tailgaiters. Gotta love that Cummins.
