Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Black smoke

I have 2001 2500 with 103. 000 miles. In past couple of days I have noticed that there has been large amount of black smoke coming from the exhaust, enough to coat the bumper and fender in soot. This has just begun and has not been a problem in the past.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing that comes to mind is a boost leak some where. Check your hoses & clamps.

If you are low on power then definately what he said.

First, do you have gauges? If so have you noticed your max boost has dropped? Is the truck all stock? Have you noticed any strange noises, like a shop-vac sound? If so you probably have a ripped or damaged intercooler boot. Definately what darkhorse said.
