Heard that Alexander was killed in a wreck with Kerry Earnhardt tonight. Does anybody know if this is true? I couldn't find anything on Jayski's or NASCAR.com

yep it is true. . They got together kind of like Dales crash. But the car of Blaise's looked worse. This year hasn't been good anywhere in a racecar. Dirt or asphault. Prayers to the Alexander family... ...

being born and raised in north carolina, nascar was always something that i watched with my buddies on the tv and never really understood what the big deal was. about ten years ago, i started watching the live feeds of the races on the dish, and finally "got it" i was hooked after that, and try to watch every race, when im not working weekends. guys, something is wrong here, there are way too many guys being killed in these bodystyle cars, by the same thing, to just say its a bad stretch of luck. think about the changes in the winston cup cars from the muscle car to the monte carlo, grand prix, etc. they are getting more and more aero and streamline, but also the deadliest race car out there today. its time to wake up and smell the roses , nascar, we like action, and of course wrecks create the most excitement to novice fans. but us oldtimers are starting to get real tired, real fast, of seeing these young [and older] drivers killed. somethings wrong, and needs to be addressed.

Still dont get it....

... been to a few round-e-round NASCAR races... still dont understand what all the fuss is about. Daytona? Give me the 24 Hour endurance race! You mentioned bing an old-timer... remember way back when... when NASCAR ran as "stock cars"... . a real car you or I could buy, with a stripped interior, a roll cage and a hot rod motor... back in the day when "win on Sunday - sell on Monday" actually meant something. Today's cars dont share anything with a Taurus or Monte Carlo more than the tail lights! As you have read in all the reports, the cars are built too stiff and wont give in a crash.

As for circle racing... . havent the governing bodies learned a thing? The ARCA cars are fast. Dirt cars go fast... heck, go carts go plenty fast enough to kill ya! Dale's hit wasnt all that hard, but was just the right angle etc. with inadequate safety equipment... no other racer in any form of motorsport is absolutely safe... Lord knows I try to be when I strap in.
