bleeding the clutch/1st gen

is there any way to get the air out without a bleeder valve?? we are now down to 1/2 inch play on the 92 4w/d with anv 4500... but its like we have slack in the linkage under the dash , or air still in the line... . 1/2 inch till we engage the plunger... . please send help..... s. o. s. ... ... ... monte

disconect the slave from the bell housing, let it hang with the piston rod down, tube up. Pump it a little bit at the slave and at the clutch pedal. Also try gravity, let it hang over night.

I have a similar problem in my 90, only this was previous owner incompetence. There is a LARGE quantity of air in the system. I am tempted to buy a complete system new and be done with it.

I actualy got the bleeder screw on the slave loose an bled it, no help. Then I found a shell casing to fit over end of slave rod, put some small washers inside shell to make up for excess free play. Still no help. Everything new inside clutch housing an Getrag rebuilt. Clutch linkage appears to do its job, yet it still acts like clutch not fully disengaging at times. It seems worse on cold start ups ??
