Had mine fixed under warranty, four hours labor at dealer rate of $100. 00 an hour. Minus the two gouges in the dash board. They are not mechanics but butchers here in New Jersey.

Good work prmizeski!!! Every owner needs to check this feature, make

sure it works properly before the vehicle gets too far out of warranty.

I read the past posts and thought mine being an '06 would have the good parts in it, guess I was wrong. Mine failed about a month ago at 17K and 12 months old. My local dealer had the truck for 4 days to fix the vent door and an oil leak. They replaced the door and housing (PN 68004226AB), I don't know if the new housing is the same as old one or " new & improved". Got the truck back with 3 scratches/gouges on the dash top surface. Took the truck back so they could work out the scratches and got it back with 2 1/2" paint drips on the pass seat :{ and overspray on the inside of the windshield. On the bright side no rattles in the dash (yet) and the mechanic aligned my shifter knob to face fwd & aft instead of sideways. Oh yea the oil is still leaking from the front seal / oil pan lip. Oo.

i am on my third one in 2 years... . and after last time they told me to only change controls with fan off or on low... so i did it with it turned off. here it is 6 months later and broke again and this time we were riding to lunch and couple miles down the road it pops all on its own... . vent set to panel/floor and fan set to lowest position.

if it happens one more time I am going to trade this ***** in as when the warranty runs out I am not going to pay $500 for them to spend a day to fix a $2 part..... why doesnt Dodge or Geno or someone make a door that wont break? PLEASE... I love the cummins... I love my truck... . but in 25 years and multiple trucks, SUVs, Jeeps, and cars... I have NEVER ever broke even ONE VENTILATION blend door or vent door. Three in two years is a bit much...

I am waiting for the day that my '07 craps out!!! In the mean time, Hasn't anyone experimented with gusseting that door piviot? It looks like to me that it could be reinforced by running a metal attachment along the pivot and the top of the door.

help me out... .

mine just blows out the dash vents, no floor or defroster... This winter has been hard to deal with.

Would the above sysom be the blend door? or possible the selector motor?

Had mine fixed by the dealer 3 times, and it's broke again.

I don't think it's worth taking the dash out again to fix it if it's only going to break again with in a year, dash is showing signs of abuse from removal.

If someone would come up with an improved bulletproof part or aftermarket fix even if it was a manual push / pull cable to change the door position I would consider fixing it again but what they are doing is not working

Well I can now report the 2007 6. 7 also has the same problem. The HVAC tech will end up replacing the entire unit by the time he is finished. It all started with the fan slow down then progressed to cold air at max temp of course it was -20C and every window was frosting up.
The good and the bad about Dodge is they use the same part is every truck, eventually they will fix it but it may it may take longer than any of us are around to enjoy the fix. ha ha

Broken doors in heater box

Westside Dodge, A Dars Car store, keeps these parts on hand as well

as the condenser core. They fixed my broken door and replaced the

core while the mileage and months were long past, however as explained

already in these threads, I had to call Chrysler to get them to pay for it.

If your vehicle is out of warranty you must call Chrysler, although you'd

think the dealer would just to keep your business, but it's not going to

happen.

As I've mentioned in the past. When I worked for A Kenworth dealer we had a similar problem and it may or may not affect defrost capabilities and was covered by a safety recall. Once and for all this should be a safety recall. This a a safety issue for those of us that require defrosting of our windows.

Safety Recall? A very good point Dan,

there is nothing more unsafe than fogged or frosted windows whether driving thru large intersections or school routes.

I have a problem on my 03. It has the dual system and every thing works but when you go to a/c you do not get cold air out of the pass side. the other night it was 66 out, the drivers side temp was 38 and the pass side was 60. It goes back and forth to cold and hot ok. It also goes to def and to the floor ok. Would this be the blend door also. Thanks

I do not understand the issue with gauges. I had the dealer do the install.

are not pulling a Trailer but does allow the monitoring. As to the Boost gauge when used in conjunction with the pyrometer you can get a better handle on what the various DTC codes are telling you and report them to the Service Manager. I have never had a problem in this regard with the Service Manager. I have all my work done at the Dealership and in turn they ensure my truck is on the road for business every day.

I'm with you 100% on this. My truck is bone stock and I won't tow w/o gages (boost/EGT/transmission). EGT shoots up on hills at low RPM so I punch it to get transmission to down shift. I also use it to monitor cooldown, which is better for the engine. Boost is great for montoring fuel, saves me on mileage. I'll bet that people who use gages are more concerned about and more aware of what their engine is doing, and are therefore less likely to need warranty work. Some dealers will do whatever they can to void the warranty. The svc rep I talked too says gages usually indicate the truck has been chipped. I have found a dealer that appreciates the fact that gages are indeed a good thing.

If mine ever breaks, I understand it's possible to remove the fan without removing dash, and then pull out the broken door thru the fan opening. (It may not be true).

But I can live without blend door, as long as it's NOT the temperature door.

Just let it blow thru all the vents at once. It's less drafty, and in winter, just close the main vents by hand to defrost faster.

No way am I paying $1000 for this.
