I don't seem to have the heat I used too. . I read most of the posts concerning low heat, and have tried some of the fixes. . good vacuum, flushed heater core, new t-sat, topped off radiator... ... my questions is this, I see the collar on the blend door turning... . it turn about 3/8th of a revolution... is that about right ?

Can the collar spin, without the blend door opening ??

TIA

about 3/8 rotation sounds right, I wouldnt expect that the collar would turn without the door turning, unless it had somehow gotten detached.

I was not getting very good heat from mine, expecially after it had been running for a while, but there was also less are being moved it seemed. Here is the problem I found, I had to change the heater core anyhow since it was leaking, but all air passes by the evap first, and except in panel only and floor only modes the AC system is running, the moisture was freezing to all the junk stuck to the evap and reducing airflow by 50-90% depending on the day. #ad

You could try checking the temp of the lines going into the heater core... but as long as they are not kinked or something I bet that will be OK.

Wow, is that your Evaporator?!!:eek::--):--) Your truck is newer than mine, I hate to think what mine looks like! Guess I better check it.

Yep that was the Evap... get a heck of a lot more airflow now... it is in the teens outside and only have to run the heater maybe at the 10 o'clock position for nice toasty windshield and cab. Took me probably 10 hours to R and R the HVAC box (including stopping for dinner) Guess it really depends on where the trucks were parked too... this was off the wifes 00, my 99 (both trucks bought used from the same part of TX) is still doing fine, moves plenty of air, hot in winter, cold in summer. The strange thing was when I took out the airbox the previous owner had bailing wired the intake baffle to only use cab air (back to normal now though) was wondering why the air always stunk like my boots.
