Ya, I was at 3600+RPM doing a burnout in 3rd in front of all my buddies and WOOSHHHHHFFF, the truck bogged down and was smoking like hell! I popped the hood and realized it wan't too bad thank god. I had to drive 5 miles home like that to get tools and well my 350HP+ beast felt like a 75HP pig. I got it back on easily and then nplugged the smarty in to see how many codes were set and to my surprise there were none! Gotta love the smarty :D

That sure gets your attention. I was pulling Sexton pass on I-5 in my work truck with tripples at 103,000 pounds and 3/4ths of the way to the top I broke a boot clamp and it sounded like a cannon went off. It is hard to believe how much difference the boost makes, I went from pulling in 7th to 2nd and was still loosing ground when I crested the top. I have no idea how much boost our trucks run they only run basic gauges in the fleet but wow what a noise that made

thats happened to me at IRP at the 1000ft mark... ... BOOM... . i said to my self OMG WTF NOW. . LOL..... with a 12 hr drive home i was hoping it wasn't anything to major.

5 min later it was all fixed up..... now i have the high pressure boot kit on it to hold 50 psi, now so i don't have to worry about that again.

after that wife said ... thats it no more runs..... :-laf

I'm hoping to keep the origional ones. The clamp was quite loose and I'm sure that is why it came off. The boot was not torn or ripped so I should be fine.

I havn't seen any changes since the re-torque in boost or EGT's, so it couldn't have been leaking too bad before.

I thought the same thing. But it kept happening. So I had to change it. I think that the boot got thin and weak.

Happened to me on my trip down from Alaska. I was somewhere in Yukon or BC... I know it was basically BFE. Pulling one of those 7% grades and I had it in cruise, truck downshifts and BOOM.

I thought my trans had fragged from the way it sounded.

Pulled it over and of course all my tools were at the bottom so it took me like 45 mins to unpack and fix it... . was like 15* and snowing too.

Every time the boot blows it gets weaker. The threads inside the rubber laminate start to tear and it stretches easier. Mine got to where you coudn't sneeze at it or they would slip under the clamp. Just replace ALL of them. If one is weak so may the others be.
