I had the truck WOT with water meth running hitting around 51 psi for about 30 seconds. The Back of the head is leaking water and there seems to be no water in the oil. The truck still runs great but just leaks coolant fast. So My question is Studs is a must but what kind of Gasket setup should i run for a dailey driver/ tow rig pushing 500hp. I heard the Marine Gasket with studs is good or Studs and a Gen 3 Gaskets. Heard Orings and copper gasket is Good for a pull/drag truck but tends to leak coolant after some time. Would like to get some info from guys that are running 450-500hp with 50-55 psi and what has been working for them. Thanks

I would go with the 12v Marine gasket modified for the 24v motor. Get the head o-ringed and use some 12mm studs. This combo will work well for you!

Doug

Modified 12 valve gasket, 12 mm studs, and o-ringed is a good combo, consider some porting or a cam while you have the head off.

Where can i find the Modifed Marine gasket to fit a 24 valve. Go with Peirs for the Oringing???? Is there anyone in Nor-cal that can oring or the west states? 12mm Studs Are the Arp studs a good pick? Thanks

Pat

I wish we where a little closer, I would be gald to do the O-ringing. With the std output the compression is lower than the H. O. the thicker the head gasket the less bottom end the truck has. Far as a daily driver also hurts spool up.

Got the head off today. The water Seal on the rear water port blew when the head lifted. No water got into the #6 cylinder. Everything was sealed and thats why it ran great still. Sucks but it will be done right. Picture of the Gasket #ad
