"Blind Charging" and the IBS

I ran across this on another forum, and don't recall it being discussed here. I did a quick search and didn't see this, so apologies if it is a repost.

I noticed mine under hood last year and did a little reading on it. I think it’s a great idea, and should make batteries last longer.

Not sure when they started using it, but I’d guess 2013.

Didn't help on my 2018, Just over 2 years and the Batteries required replacement. Normal life expectancy in Phoenix for the Batteries.

Reading the TSB I think it only applies to vehicles with the Start/Stop mode of operation (The one that shuts off the engine at stop lights) but I could be wrong. That mode needs to make sure it isn't running the battery down too far at a stop light.

Good catch. If we find it doesn't apply to the CTD I will ask the mods to move the thread.

Good catch. I’d guess the charging attachment point applies regardless thou.
