Blink Running Lights?

Came across this switch in the Cole Hersee
catalog. .
Day and Night Marker Lamp Switch #55071
Double Pole Two Circuit.
UP momentary ON for day signaling
DOUWN... Momentary OFF for night signaling.
3 Terminal:#1-Marker Lamps
#2-From Marker Lamp Switch
#3-Battery
It is rated at 25A.
Think this would work instead of 2 relays as
mentioned on the other thread?Putting the
16ga BK/Y wire from headlight switch and to
trailer relay on #1 and #2 terminals. ??

I'm the guy that built the original, this switch should work but I wanted one switch for both head and tail lights, but won't work on headlights on '99 and newer.
I'll get one of the new switches and try it -- let y'all nkow

On the 2000 it appears that they are on the same ckt as the clearance,tail,lights.
BK/YL wire... from headlight switch.

Thanks! (I don't have a manual. . yet). I had to splice off the tag lights to get me by after I lost trailer marker lights. I changed out the relay to no avail. guess I better revisit that problem...

Suppose you have already figured this out,but. . It appears to me in y2k manual...
From Headlight switch. . 18G BK/YL to Connector#134Then it goes to a Splice#104 thence to park lights,tag lights,clearance lights on truck and one leg to Trailer Relay in PDC(coil side of relay).
There is a 40A fuse in PDC with a RD/OR wire going to hot side of relay and EDIT::BLK/OR going from relay to Trailer Tow Connector in
rear of truck. This would be clearance lights on trailer. Pin #3 the one at 11 O'clock
Wish I knew how to draw crude diagram on here,but I don't.

Thanks for the info Fuzz! Yep, I drew myself a diagram. . I have voltage on the trailer side of the relay, but somewhere in between I lose it. But, Now I have a little clearer picture of how to t'shoot it. Thanks again!

installed switch

Finally got around to installing the Cole-Hersee switch,menitoned in first post.

It works as advertised... . One way will blink clearance lights if lights off,the other way they blink when lights are on.

It is a 20A switch. . and seeing as how the trailer lights go through the relay in PDC it should work,right??.

I guess when I hook up the trailer I could measue amp draw and see,or would that really tell me?

Thought I would let you know it does work as advertised.

1. I cut the Blk/YLW wire at the headlight switch.

2. Ran a wire from the headlight switch end to one terminal on Cole-Hersee.

3. Ran a wire from the cut end(to relay inPDC) to other terminal on

Cole-Hersee

4. Ran a hot wire from the Painless wireing module to last terminal on Cole-Hersee.

Boy,one of the members said he could hide his own Easter eggs,

he was getting so forgetful,and I think he was 54. Wait'll he gets 67.

I can't find the ticket for the darn switch. . The total I spent for switches that day was 17. 29 (found that in Quicken)I bought 3

two lighted toggle and the "flasher". It was kinda pricey seems like around $8. 00.



I fooled around all day with a piece of galvanized metal that I cut out of an old metal box. Used a cardboard template and ground and snipped until it would fit in the Ash receptical of the Ashtray.

It fits good with just friction. Drilled two holes near the back(the ashtray gets deeper toward the back(front of the truck). Mounted the "flasher" and a lighted switch for aux backup lights. . I spray painted the galvanized metal Black before mounting switches.



With the switches toward the front of the pickup there is room to close the ashtray. .

Kinda think I will mess around and try to make a piece that will replace the ashtray and cover it with some textured plastic off of a cheap tool box or something,paint it agate to match the dash.

then mount switches there. Just hated to drill into dash.

Hope some of this makes sense.

I'm trying to locate a supplier on the "Right Coast", or an internet supplier for this switch. Any clues?

My usual auto parts house never even heard of Cole Hersee.

He's usually got whatever I need, but this one stumps him.

Gosh,I don't know. I assume you went to their web page(Cole-Hersee) and looked for an outlet out there. Not sure but Wrangler Power may have 'em.

Not surprised that the parts house never heard of them. They are not your average switch. . They make a a lot of marine switches also. Their battery disconnect is on a lot of boats and some RV's.

Maybe a good marine supply could get the switch. I know that some of the bigger trucks,Freightliner, and others use their switches. Maybe a good overthe road truck supply. If that don't work maybe call one of the 800# I put in previous post in Denver.
