block heater, but not cord??

I was digging around my 04 truck looking for the block heater cord. I crawled under the truck on a creeper to find that the block has a heater installed, but has a plastic cap over the threads where the cord is supposed to screw onto. What is the deal there? Can I buy the cord at the Dodge dealer?? Thanks.

That's exactly the deal - they shipped the engine without the heater cord. You have to opt for a specific "package" at time of sale to get the cord. I forget the name of the package.

The cord can be bought from the dealer or from a Cummins shop for a reasonable price ($20?).

Geno's sells it for $12 and my local ******* I mean dealer wanted $60 and they had to order it.

luckily I found it out not long after I bought my 06 so I went in to the dealer and reamed out for it. Thay gave me one for free.

Block Heater Cord Install

Does it matter which way you plug the block heater cord in. I will fit either way. I assume that it doesn't matter or they would have designed it so it would go in only one way. Any help would be appreciated.
