hey guys... ... does anyone know the Mopar part # for the block heater cable???... Geno's has a listing, but only '02-'06 model years... ... my Dealer wants $54. 99 for the dang cable..... kinda steep i would say... . i'm CERTAIN somebody has them for less..... any info would be GREATLY appreciated... tom;)

When I ordered my new 5500 there was no option for the block heater..... I can only assume that on the 5500 its standard... . BTW its the same cable as used by Ford... .

You might try the Cummins dealer or another big rig shop. They have the older cords for about $12.

Ordered the 02-06 year cable for my 6. 7L from Geno's fits perfect, for $29. xx. just took me awhile to run the cable up to the light/grill.

Just got through looking for mine on the new 08 megacab. It has a black cap on it and it is about half way down the oil filter just behind it. Kinda cramped quarters for my big hands but I was able to take the cap off by coming from the back by way of the turbo intake. Looks like it might be easier from the bottom now I know where it is and what it looks like. by the way ebay has a bunch of them for sale starting at $5 + shipping all the way up to $30+ --- watch out for shipping costs...

I just searched for block heater cord in all categories. My dealer called yesterday about a recall on my 2008 and I mentionned that I needed a block heater cord. Parts dept. quoted me ~$90. I said I could buy it from ebay for less than $20. He said that it wouldn't fit my 6. 7l because the cord was changed from the 5. 9l engine. Something about having input and output????? Who knows anything about the new block heater cords??

i just picked up a cable from Cummins, made by Fleetguard... only $12. 85 with my club discount... . 59 inches long... i'll put it on tomorrow night... Cummins counter guy said he had the same thing with Cummins part# for $33. 00... . or,the Fleetguard for $16 and change... DOH!!!!it's a simple 2 pin right angle molded rubber plug with an integral ground tab and spin on cover-nut... ... i'll test it out and let ya'll know!!!!... ... tom:cool:

... installed my cable tonite,at 59. 5" its plenty long enough,i simply wire-tied it in 2-3 places to keep it clear of hot surfaces... . i did manage to ding the edge of my ac condensor fins... . DANG:mad:... . oh well... i'll get Santa to get me a cover from Geno's to hide it :-laf..... tom

Tom,

You used the block heater cord part number 251919 for your 6. 7l engine? The reason why I ask is because that's the part # for the 5. 9l. That would mean it's the same block heater and cord.

Tom,

Would you mind PM'ing me or emailing me the serial number on your block? I can check with cummins to be sure which cord should be used.
