Block heater cord missing?

My uncle has an 03 or 04 CTD and said he has a block heater, but doesn't have a cord. I thought he just couldn't see, but I crawled under there and sure enough, just the heater in the block with no cord! Did they forget something at the factory, or does he just need to go buy the cord?

03/04 came with it. 05 up its a option,the cord that is. Napa might have one,Cummins store or through the dealer.

Yeah, he said they were only like 15 bucks. I just thought it was kinda rediculous that it had the heater, but no cord. Just thought I would ask. Thanks

03/04 came with them. Yours might have gotton stolen/yanked out or something.

None of the 3rd Gens came with the cord. It was a $10 factory option or $40 to buy it from the dealer after the purchase.

Well now I think you better check up on that. It wasn't made a option ($10)till 05. All 03s and I thought 04s came with the cord same as all previous year models.

My friends 03 didn't come with one and the dealer wanted $40 for one. I got a cord at Cummins for $12 for him

My early 04 had the heater but not the cord. It was a $10 option if you ordered your truck. Here in Arizona they didn`t think we would need a block heater. I purchased the cord from the dealer and installed just in case I went north.

Well mine sure did and the other 4 or 5 03/04 that my friends purchaced and it was NOT a option. Now my neighbors 05 did and it WAS a $10 option. Plus I remember all the POSTS in early 05 about how cheap it was to delete the cord ONLY and make it a option. There were LOTS of posts about the issue.

The cord was definitly an option on an 04. I know I paid and its on the invoice.

Whatever you do, DO NOT hire the dealer to install it for you. It took me 5 minutes to do in my driveway in 10 degree weather.

Well 03s it was not a option. It was standard. Do a deep search. You'll see when the OPTION appeared. Might have been 04. 5 went it went delete.

Oh ,I definitely won't pay someone to put it on, all you have to do is unscrew this plastic cap off and screw the cord onto the plug. Too easy.

DPK is right, I have a 2004. 5 and it was a $10 option for the cord. Was going to buy one in Rawlins, Wyoming about 2 years ago and they wanted $68, I just laughted and walked out, they must have seen my license plated. LOL

Ya 04. 5 when the 600 cummins came out it became an option, i went in to the dealer after i found out my 06 didn't have one an went off that a fully load truck didn't hve a 10 dolller option , they told me don't worry its only 40 bucks for it and i told them no way was I paying for it and if i did I'd get else where, so the dealer gave it to me for free.

As I said I remember all the posts about the NEW option that had been standard for years. 03/04 came with the heater cord but NO underhood lights. That WAS a option in 03/04. Then the block heater was dropped unless paid for. Lots of posts about the NEW level of chasing pennies and nickels cheapness.
