Block Heater Cord??? Where is it??

Snowing outside, and want to plug in the 05. Book says behind the right headlight. Not there.



Is this an option for the cord??

Not all vehicles have a block heater.

All Dodge/Cummins vehicles have the block heater. Not all have the cord. It may not have been installed on your truck.

Your Cummins has a block heater. If your truck didn't come "equipped" with one you just need the power cord. Geno's has them for about $30. 00, the dealer has them for about $75. 00. There is a threaded plastic cap covering the plug in right by the oil filter. Took me about 10 min. to install.

It's almost impossible to find unless you know where to look, it is right behind the oil filter.

Agreed, all CTDs have the heater installed, not all got equipped with a cord. The cord is $26 from dodge and I believe $8 from Cummins.



If you inspect the passenger side of the block, you will find a "knob" looking thing sorta behind the oil filter like described above. Unscrw the knob and then you push the heater cord in and screw the retainer down... done. Plug it in.



Now, beware that IT MIGHT MAKE SOME PRETTY FUNKY NOISES when you first plug it in... mine squalled and buzzed for some time... it does that the first few time it gets plugged in, and mine even did it plugging it in for the first time this winter.

My 3500 Laramie had to options omitted when ordered, the uconnect and, I just discoved, block heater without a cord! Going in for service Tue and they will put one on. $10. 00 option when ordering. You can easily do it your self as described above but easiest when you remove the turbo tube. it is just behind it.

Cummins sells the cord for $13 made by fleetguard.
