I have a 1990. Last fall I had a new engine block heater installed as the old one died. It worked fine until this spring when it began to trip the circuit breaker on the electrical outlet it was connected to. Any suggestions on the cause and a fix. Did you reuse the old cord? Most of the time, it is not the heater that goes bad, only the cord or the plug. I think there is a way to test the plug. If it's bad, thats an easy one to change. Not sure about the cord, if you can get one anywhere or a dealer item or not.

Bill,

Thank's for the tip. Will change the plug when I get back from a camping trip... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . bluedodge

Most of the time its right behind the plug , from flexing , just go to the hardware store and get a new end to put on , but look at the length of the cord to make sure you do not see any rubs , melts or brakes .

This happend to my 93. Mopar had a new cord for around $50  You might get it cheaper from Cummins or go the hardware store route…
