Plugged the block heater in on Sunday evening. Monday AM temp was 43*f , truck started easy & idled quietly. Had some heat immediately. Last night I did not use the heater. Started OK, but much noisier & took about 6 miles of easy driving for the temp gauge to move off the cold mark. Ambient temp about 42*f on startup. I am sure that using the heater will make a huge difference to fuel mileage too (Not too sure what it will do to my utility bill, though. :--) )

Yes they do make a big difference. If you are truly worried about your utility bill, here is what i did. I installed one of those electric cord reals, the kind you pull out to the length needed, it stays, then just give a little tug, and back in it goes. Any way, I put this right outside my garage, where it would be convenient to use, and put it on a timer. My timer had several "events" that you could program in, so I just had it where it would come on thru most of the day, and then about 2 hours before I would leave for work. Now you have a warm truck, and a cold utility bill. Good luck. :D
