Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) blow by bottle (what is it)

here's the story under carrige of truck is soaked the bottle on front of engine was coming off bolt on bottom loose I see hole on side of bottle with nothing in it what is the purpose of this bottle and how can I change the design so it doesnt leak

The pill bottle was added model year 2000 to reduce driveway spotting. Its sole purpose is to catch oil that may drip from the tube after the engine is stopped.

any fix for it cause now instead of a spot I get 10 spots and a dirty truck is there any mod you can make

Also, some folks just get a hose barb and extend the hose to the transmission crossmember, eliminating the bottle altogether.

Using the search feature on this board will yield hours of reading, almost all talking about re-routing the blowby and drip rather than eliminating it.

I removed the bottle and extended the hose all the way to the rear of the truck using 3/4" clear from home a supply store.



It's been working great for 4 years. A side benefit is that no one tail gates in the winter when you can see the smoke

it is nasty, a crappy idea by any means, I am doing the relocation surgery this weekend.
