At subzero temperatures with a hot idling engine (after a highway run) you will be able to see a small amount of warmer air coming out of the blow by vent - part of the annual preventive maintenance checks in this part of the world - - - :)

Thanks, good idea. We had a few pretty cold days, but I had the turbo off and couldn't run it, but I'm sure the opportunity will come up.

What do you guys think about using 5/8's heater hose as replacement hose for the blowby tube? I broke mine (starter r&r) and for now got a section of heater hose hanging there.

Both my trucks have heater hose. It was a bear to install though. Tight fit. Like an O. J. glove. The original stuff is old and dry rotted. On the '92, they run that hose between the engine and the starter motor. Was pinched off 75%.

The heater hose isn't oil compatable. That simply means it will only last ten years as opposed to the 13/14 years of the OEM hose material.

Or just get a piece of hydraulic hose. Cheaper than silicone I would think.

But personlly I'd go with the 10 year heater hose. ;)

Lucky me, mine is on the side oposite my starter. My turbo has exaust inlet forward and turbo air intake aft. Paralell universe. The engine is in the front, though.

Try tightening up the bolts on your tappet cover gasket. I've had some that were loose in the past, causing a lsight seepage.

Gotta get me that camper. Only problem with that is, SHE is kinda looking for a CTD Ram (2nd Gen, though), and since it will likely be newer, IT will probably pull the camper, leaving me to do my own upgrades.

If you have access to a farm supply store use the clear tygon type of hose that is rated for chemicals / ammonia, etc. It is cheaper and easier to work with than heater hose and will last a long time (mine has been on for 3 years and 50,000 miles) Buy enough so that you can route the hose back past the end of your transfer case - as it drips it will not cover the transmission, etc. with the blow by.
