im runnin an 06 4x4 LB CC 6 speed with cold air no muff, cat might be gone this weekend and quad race box... . ive been lookin at the BD blow off valve and was wondering if it would be a good thing to have due to the shifting i do when runnin somebody... ... ..... i know the add for it says for offroad use and aftermarket turbos but does anyone know if it would be ok on a stock charger? im thinking about running a boost fooler from quad and am thinkin ahead for a later turbo upgrade... . any ideas or know of anyone with one already on a stocker??

My budy is running one on his and has no problem, his truck has edge w/ attitude. Its saving his turbo for now, he has done the same thing buy racing people.

It certainly won't hurt anything and will provide turbo protection. I don't have stock turbo, but the BD BOV stopped almost any barking on my SPS66. I am glad I had one installed. They are a little expensive and require fabrication work on the intake side to install. I would find someone that has installed one before if you are going to get one. I would never have been able to install it myself.

I thought the whole idea of a blow off valve was to dump high boost caused when you close the throttle valve on a gasser? (diesels don't have throttle valves)

I believe the component you are refering to is the "throttle body", not throttle valve. A blow off valve is to relive intake manifold pressure to help preserve turbocharger life, by reducing/eliminating "turbo shutter" what ever the aplication.

how does that work with an auto transmission? My stock turbo barks constantly and its not really a comforting sound. I would rather have a nice pissssht. than the fuf fuf fuf fuf fuf fuf.

Does it do it when you let off or in the throttle. My budy has a 12 valve auto that does it when he hits lockup. My 06 will do it when I shift slow or let off quickly after being in it.

on a slushbox, i think it will only work when you go off throttle. . it won't stop barking between shifts [3-4] when under load. . with the stick, you are going off throttle between shifts [or if not, you are still clutching so that can trigger it]

Shifting, lock up, or just letting of of the throttle. it seems that any time there is a moderate change in RPM turbo is barkin, It got worse after I installed the technicooler.

I would never recommend one on a manual transmission equipped truck.

I had one and ran it with my SPS66 for 10k miles. Once it's tuned right, it does eliminate almost all instances of turbo bark. That said, it dumps too much boost between shifts to be efficient when trying to race down the track. You have to wait for boost to build between every shift. Additionally mine had a habit of sticking open. I had to send it back to BD to tweak the Tial valve, as the sealing O-ring would blow out and keep the valve open.

On an auto it would be great, as it's only actuating when you back off the throttle.

Even though I hated it with my NV5600, it was really cool to hear the PSHHHHT!!! between shifts. Lotsa ricers give you a double-take.

IMO the best way to wire it is to have a switch to kill the valve any time you need to hustle, and leave it on when driving in regular traffic.

When I switched to a SPS 62, the valve was no longer a necessity. I think I barked the 62 twice or 3 times in the 2000 miles I ran it.
