Come on Sled, don't knock Doug  Just because you run a reality based program on the durability of a cummins powered ram up against abnormal loading and HP, does not negate the extreme R&D action that Doug has stuck under his truck's daily to-do list :D :D :D :-laf I think that if you both added up your total parts and time lists you might both be in the hospital with your trucks in pursuit of stand in drivers LOL! Not busting on either of you at all, heck, I am about to begin the same spenzif' thing with one of my trucks so that gene can beat me at New Centerville every year, and have another victim to laugh at LOL :D

Matt: Are you still a cheese head?

So... you consider chasing skirts working?:D

Extreme R&D= sticking 6 sticks of dynamite down the intake, lighting fuse and watch the results, all the while with a stupid grin on yer face. :D :D :D

I have been easy on Doug for two years, this year, he has to do something, or suffer the consequences!!!!;)

A Muncie win over Maddog will be acceptable.

Russell: Yup, I'm still a proud cheesehead.

If I did, then I'd have to say that you're permanently laid off. :-laf

Agreed!

May not be prefect, but there cheap, they work, my wastegate is wide open and they keep me out of 100+ psi of boost, but then I have an abnormal size bottom turbo!

Jim

I also agree. Thats why i only use them for a secondary safety valve. Hey Jim,hows the wastegate control working out for you? Looks like i might go to the track this Sunday and try a run or two.

but then I have an abnormal size bottom turbo!

And abnormally fueled.

It's doing good Brad..... don't tell all the Secret I'll never be ahead:p

Jim

Ha Ha I know the secret Jim !!!! But for the right price I won't tell. LOL:D

One more that agrees, Blow off valves should only be used as a safety if all else fails. Wastegates are the controller of choice.

BD's turbo guard is a blow of valve that controlled by the throttle position sensor to release excessive boost pressure when you come off the throttle. It is mounted between the intake and intercooler. I have one on my 02 and it works great. They can be set to only partially drop pressure so you do not loose all boost between shifts. They can also work off a throttle peddle micro switch. See there web site for more info

I really like this set up. They pop as I lift and keep from barking my turbos  I would like an electronic adjustable set up to lower boost in bad weather conditions.

The BD 'turbo guard' is a blow off valve :D ... controlled by some electronics that control the valve based on throttle position.

I don't know the whole story... but their original offering would only activate when you went from WOT to idle. Their updated version (whether it is out or not - I have no idea... ) supposedly will activate when you go from partial throttle back to idle... which is the way all the gasser BOV's work.

Gassers have it made when it comes to BOV's... no electronics necessary to make 'em work.
