Lately on my 06' Megacab, when I run the the a/c or heater on either of the two highest settings, the blower motor makes a louder than usual "growling" noise. Also when you come to a stop or are going slow the engine has a slight surging. With the blower off or on the two lower settings it runs smooth. Blend door still seems to be be changing "normally", usually some delay between settings, but it has always been like that. Any ideas?

To the top...

I'm in the same boat. Lots of noise on upper 2 settings starting 2 weeks ago. Too busy with calves right now to pull the fan motor to check for foreign 'stuff'. Hope it's not the blend door issue. Never had to take a truck back for anything. Don't much like the idea of a parts changer dismantling my entire dash and leaving me with a life time of rattles/squeaks.

Mine just started the same thing about 2 weeks ago- I thought my motor was surging also, but when I shut off the fan, everything is fine- it's just the vibration from the fan.

Did you find any resolution?

Last summer mine was making lots of noise with the fan at higher speed, took out the blower motor and a piece from the nylon/plastic door above the motor was broken off and that was making all the noise. Real easy to get blower motor out,i think just 3 screws. i took out the broken door and still havn't replaced.

its a very common problem. we see it all the time here. the blend door breaks and the little ear falls into the blower motor causing the noise everyone is hearing.

Do you have to take the whole dash apart to get to it though?

Yea pretty much need to move the dash back to change the housing. Not too bad after you have done 30-40 :-laf

Just got mine back today from the dealer to have the blend/recirc door problem fixed. They appeared to know what was wrong right away and gave me no grief about fixing it. took about a day. I was expecting the run around but no problems.

Welcome to the club. Search on "blend door" for many posts, some with pics. Like other members here, my dealer took care of mine with no argument. They must see a lot of them because they have a have a tech who specializes in this job.
