My first post. Just bought a 2001. 5 2500 6 spd HO. The wife and I were on the road with the cruise set at 83 mph no load. It was about 102 degrees and I thought I could here some low pitch and faint sound of a blower (not turbo) coming on and off every few minutes. Engine temp never moved from 190. Was it my imagination? Didn't hear it on the way home but it was cooler then.

First, welcome to the insane side of CTD ownership, watch out for the "BOMB" disease:D

It's probably the A/C compressor clutch cycling.

Did you have the heater-a/c controls on?

Yes I had the AC blasting. The sound would spool up like a low voltage motor not really a clutch that would engage and it was barely audible. Would the AC clutch engage slowly?
