Got a little ticked at the truck today for running like crap... see "misses" thread. Decided to see just how high this sucker would go. Tromped on it in 3rd gear and held it for a while. Made it all the way up to 3535rpm before I let off. Where do these things stop?? It wasn't done yet, but I was 110 miles from home and wanted to get back under my own power.

When I let off, the engine just stayed there for about 5 secs before it started slowing down, is that normal.

Yeah, normal... fuel rail bleeding down...

Mine only revs just a little past 3300 also... at a top speed of 96mph... :D

Best way to "blow out the carbon" is to hook up the 5er and tow up a 6% grade for 12 miles.

Ken, next time your up in the County, can I "borrow" yer 5ver for a run up to the tunnel? :-laf :-laf :D

Seriously, I use a can of Sea Foam ever 3rd tank full or so to help keep the carbon in check.

in lower gears [when the engine can gain speed quickly] mine has fueled to ~3500. . i have seen about 3800 downshifting. . with the ecm controling the fueling, you can not overspeed the engine. it will hit the governed rpm and sit there.

I run mine against the governor every once in a while. Second gear is about 55 mph, third is a bit over 80. I hold it there for about five minutes and I swear it idles smoother and is quieter when I'm done. RPM is right at 3400-3500.
