my girlfriend's little brother's 90 cummins is blowing sparks out the exhaust when he is driving it hard in the higher rpm's . I dont know what it means bu my first thought is it isnt good. any thoughts?

My first take on that would be turbo charger vanes hitting metal, which would mean new turbo is in order, or there is so much soot blowing through from the cylinders that with the high EGT's, are blowing ignited soot through the exhaust pipe.

Check the turbo exhaust first for bearing play, wear and soot build up. Then check valve adjustments and injectors may need a good cleaning/replacing. A compression check would be in order too.

Anyone else wanna take at wack at this one!

carbon build up in the exhaust. Old not turbocharged farm diesels are notorious for starting fires in the roadsides. Blow carbon cinders out the pipe.
