There was a dodge that was for sale the was blown up and it was done by a body shop enployee and it had a rod thrown in it. No warrenty. I dont know how some one could have blow up a engine that had a governor, unless he left a brick on the throttle and started up the engine and went to lunch. The truck was very simular to what you are describing here. I had to pass as to much unknow for me. JimK

Even if he put a brick on the pedal w/o a load on the motor I believe it would have held. Cummins tests these little motors for days on end at full load and RPM.

I doubt the rod blew, the oil pan looks fine. Maybe a valve or two is bent. In every blow rod I've seen it takes out part of the pan. The pressure plate is gone however and probably broke the input shaft. That thing must have gone to the moon however. Makes sense about the paint problem. I bet some fumes got into the engine area at start up.

I'd bet these are insurance salvage sales from an auction. Any number of reasons for chrysler to release them to auction. That's how the FordCummins.com guy gets so many new engines to sell as conversions.

SInce they have never been titled, then there is no salvage title to file and you could presumably come away with a clean title. Just an assumption on my part.

I've seen one blow a motor. Had mine do it and I've got a piece of the connecting rod layin around somewhere. It weren't to pretty. A whole threw the block in the #1 hole and a chunk missing outta the #4 and 5 holes about the size of my fist. Oil and antifreeze went everywhere.

Did anyone else notice the oil cap missing and alot of dust or dirt on top of the valve cover, im not sure whats up with these 2 trucks being placed on ebay but i smell a skunk and it walks on 2 legs, just my opinion...

I had a buddy run that VIN and all kinds of weird things show up! The orignal owner comes up as DCX Stock Reduction - Bad Paint in Auburn Hills. It also shows up at two dealers, one on 3/7/03 as prepped and ready then at another dealer on 9-7-03 for a warranty claim on the ECU with 5 miles on the clock. Now how did it get from the dealer to some place in TX??? Warranty also shows restricted but I couldn't find out any more.

Interesting that a truck built on March 27, 2003 would only have 3 miles on it

Vaughn

I have to agree with Vaughn. This truck was built at 5:00 am on the 27th of March 2003!

It also appears to me there is no thrown rod as there isn't even one drop of oil anywhere to be seen.

It appears to me the clutch and input shaft plus the clutch housing is what came apart, and not a connecting rod.

Just my opinion ;)
