Anybody ever used one of these for a house battery?

Skirting the DMV Reg's

I have a Draw- Tite brake controller on my 98. It is wired up to the factory plug.

When I step on the brake pedal the brake indicator light on the controller does not illuminate and the brakes do not work. If I manually activate the brake lever on the controller it instantly blows the 40-amp fuse on the fuse block under the hood.

I’ve checked all the wiring and cleaned the plug, all the lights and turn signals work fine. Any ideas. Thanks, Jeff

Sounds like there'a short in your trailer brake wire. Try this; Unhook the trailer and unplug the brake controller. Take a resistance measurement at the trailer connector on the back of your truck. Measure between the brake wire and chassis ground. If it's open then I would suspect your controller or the trailer itself. If it's shorted, then your brake wire has contacted ground someplace and you'll have to either fix it or cut it and run a new wire all the way to the controller.

If your not familiar with this kind of stuff and want to take a little drive tomorrow or whenever, I'd be happy to check it out for you. I fix this kind of stuff all the time!
