Ok i think the head gasket is blown. So i am goin got have the head off. The truck has some other issues with leaking pan gasket and needing to be tabbed and a clutch so i might as well jerk the whole motor. AC line need to be replaced also so i dont have to worry about that system either. Got about 5000 to spend on it so by the time you put a decent clutch and input shaft in it give or take 3500 what is the best way to spend this and maxamize the output recieved. I have access to as many ht3b as i want for 100 buck a pop so i could do a twin using the stocker. Truck is a 96 with 130k gauges and a #4 plate currently was in it when we got it. Thanks for the input guys TRavis

o-ring and port/polish the head. That is in the works for my '96 also. While you have it off, might as well upgrade it too...

By the way, what is a "Piers stooopid pump"?

I am somewhat considering a pump upgrade while I am at it too.

things id definatly like to do is port polish the head who?

cam who?

How much Hp will a 96 pump support with 4000k kit and some delivery valves

Delivery valves arent that hard to do are they?

Oring or fire ring? which do i need to do?

Twins?

What hp is it necessary to go to fly cut pistons and one of the big cams Thanks Travis

jerk the whole motor??? Well if you are going to do that. . might as well freshen it up w/ some marine pistons and new main and rod bearings.

If you're going to port the head, I suggest taking it to Dave Miller in Washington... although that's an awfull long way... so is Piers.

How mucha re flycut pistons? where do you get em? dont you only need em if you are using a big cam? what benifits will they give ya. Travis

I would do a DD cam, and I believe it requires flycutting the pistons. my machinist could cut them if I marked where they needed to be cut and told him the depth. bottom line is I could get them cut cheaper than buying a new set of pistons and then some!!

cylinder head porting is cylinder head porting... I do all my own port work, but you should be able to find someone fairly close to you who can do a good port job without bending you over on the price.

Forrest

I believe that DD cam is weak compared to a mitchell or scheid cam. You can use the DD cam w/ stock pistons I think. In my opinion that cam and piers are a waste of money.
