Noticed oil dripping from the front of my motor-found oil bubbling out center of head between head and block. Disconnected cab and lifted off of frame to get at motor. Tore down and head gasket was blown front, back and between each cylinder. Apparently fire ring groove was cut between . 014 and . 020 too deep so fire rings did not get the right compression when head was bolted on. That S**KS. Well while the truck is down we are installing 14mm head studs, and decking head to allow for larger fire rings. We also found the exhaust gasket between ats manifold and upper turbo was burnt thru. Apparently the rear bolt came loose and the escaping exhaust gas took out metal gasket. (High EGT's:D ) Also found clamp from bottom turbo flange to downpipe was only clamped on 1/2 of the downpipe flange. Its so tight there you cannot see this area. Removing the cab allowed us to see all this. We just got truck back together after adding DD's timing box, Mach 6's and a Detroit locker in the rear. We had hoped to get it to the track to continue to tune the 4 link with all the new goodies when the head gasket popped up. Also we are patiently waiting a new racing vp44 from PDR. Gonna get this thing into the 11's. I will try to shrink pics and add them later.
