Started the old '93 the other day and it had a miss at idle, I figured it was just really cold. It ran fine down the road, but now when I come to an idle it has a bad miss and there is alot of pressure in the cooling system. I'm getting ready to tear into it and wonder if anyone has any helpful info on what works best. Buying a new Cummins replacement gasket or is there a better offering. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Seane

Word on this site is that aftermarket/autoparts store gaskets might fit

and Cummins gaskets will fit.

Do you feel lucky?

I got a chance to tear into it last night and it looks like someone has done a head gasket in the past on this truck. It is a felpro gasket and is blown between cylinders 1&2. The felpro gasket looks like crap. I'll definitely be putting in a cummins gask.

The head has a groove around each cylinder with a copper o ring laid in it. Is this normal or has someone had the head o-ringed? The front o-ring is tore up so do I need to send the head out or can I buy these? The head is painted a gray-silver color so I am guessing its had some kind of work done on it, as other trucks I've owned and looked at the head was black like the rest of the engine. Thanks again for any info.

Put the old unit back together with Cummins head gasket kit. That is definitely the only way to go. The new gasket was much nicer than the fel-pro that came off the truck. Thanks for the replies.
