Here's a tip for some of you that are still running your stock intercooler boots and run above stock boost. When do you think they will let go? 1) When its a nice 60 degree out and the truck is close to driveway and tools? 2) When its 118 out, your on the second day of a 5 week trip pulling your 5er in the middle of east bfnw? Yep, you guessed its number 2. The competition guys on here that run high boost, and others that are smarter than me know that the stock ones are weak and they should be changed. Especially if your getting up in milage. I blew both boots off after climbing a lloooooooooonnnnnnnnngg grade and it was hot out. I noticed the boost and etgs were not normal. I had to nurse it off the interstate and lay on the ground where the engine temp was cooler than the ground. At least I carried tools and kelvar sleevs and gloves. Let me further the education. I was able to get the boots back on but knew they might come off at any time, comforting. Since we were on a trip I tied to contact dealers ahead of me to get boots. A dealer in Flagstaff,AZ didn't have them but found some further ahead and gave me the dealers numbers and part numbers. The guy really tried to help me. Needless to say the ones in the next city were gone, and the dealer over a day away only had one. I called the dealer that had one and asked if they could get another one. Sure but he said you need to make sure that there the right part numbers because the configuration is different. Hummmmm, both intercooler boots are the same configuration now I'm worried. Oh yeah, if you go to a dealer the boots are $190 a piece, less shipping,,special order costs, min buy, ect. , ect. I finally remembered that Mr. Bobs (661. 245. 0319)had some aftermarket blue ones for the air and intercooler and called Bob Conner. He had them in stock. I asked him if he could drop ship them to the next RV park that we would hit and he said that would be no problem. He even went to a store down the street that had a better UPS pick up time than his to help me on the overnight delivery. The boots were waiting for me at the RV park when I got there. Bob even called that evening to make sure they got there. Can't ask more than that from a businessman. Once the old boots were completly removed, I felt them compared to new one and they were like soft gum were really thin and had lost any stiffness. If you have a truck that has miles on it, I'd highly recommend replacing them now, and not with the stock ones. Especially at about $190 apiece for 4, when you can get better ones for about $280 a set.
