Maybe not. It may have been D/C's intent to have both the 3/36 Basic Warranty and the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty begin at delivery or the in-service date. Or maybe it wasn't.

2. 6 Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty



A. When it begins



If your truck is equipped with a Cummins Diesel Engine, the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty begins at the end of the 3/36 Basic Warranty period, and covers the cost of repairing those parts of your truck engine listed that are defective in materials, workmanship, or factory preparation.



B. Parts Covered for 5 Years or 100,000 Miles



In trucks equipped with a Cummins diesel engine ONLY the following engine parts and components are covered for 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first:



•cylinder block and all internal parts . . .

From Ghostroller's post, it seems to me that the Warranty Information booklet language " the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty begins at the end of the 3/36 Basic Warranty period" was significant in his experience with the dealer.

glad to hear that... i come on here, and read these threads, and it just scares the living crap out of me... i dont know what i would do if mine blew, i have 60k on it now, but i am about 3 months out of warranty now and i just know that i couldnt afford 4,000$ in repairs the way things are going right now even with the truck paid off. im glad to hear this situation was rectified ghost... .

This is a disturbing topic.



I bought the truck confident that with proper care it's engine would out last the chassis.



At this point (96K and 6 payments remaining), the engine has outlived:



Clutch (Edge&DD related), 3 Sets of tires, 3 fog lights, All tie rod ends, 2 PS pumps, PS gearbox, VAC pump, Drivers seat cushion, The rust and ding free chassis, Rear window gasket, 2 grill guards(damn deer), 1 front bumper (damn deer), front brakes, aftermarket ladder bars...



The VAC pump ticked me off. It is on the engine so why wasn't it covered by DC?



The lift pump is covered so why not the VAC pump?



The VAC pump failed because the ps pump seized up which destroyed the VAC pumps output gear.

O. k. ,,,,,,,,,,,, I am a Dodge Truck dealer,,,,,, When is your in service date (meaning the day that the selling dealer did the New Vehicle Delivery Report or NVDR on your truck) if has truly been 5 years the the game is still not over,,,, pm me the Vin number and the milage of your truck,,,, let me Run a VIP (Vehicle Information Plus) report on your truck to checkthe in-service date. Next thing to do,,,,, and i hate to tell any one to do this,,,,, but there is an 800 number in the back your owners manual,,,,,,, call it,,,, tell them that you truck is (blank) days out of warranty and has less than 100,000 miles on it,,,, and has had "massive lower engine failure" the factory will work with you,,,,, if your dealer is a 5star dealer they should pay as little as 65% of the total repair cost,,, if not the entire repair,,,,,,, let the dealer tell you there is nothing they can do and walk away,,,,,,, I couldnt live with myself if i treated my customers the way that you are being treated. Given the is a special place in my heart for cummins owners but it is also my repsonsibility to my customers to get them every dollar of warranty that they paid for,,,,,,,,,,,, and the bottom line is that the factory is doesnt want a case like this the tarnish the dodge/cummins rep,,,,,,,,,,,, send me your vin,,,,, i'll see what i can do to help,,,,,,,,,,,it's a 16 hour trip to little rock from here,,,,, if it wasnt so far,,,,, i'd fix your truck,,,,,, but the factory diffently would pay $3 per mile to get you truck here
