Since the damage was done the the front pistons, I don't think the EGT gague would pick up the heat due to the probe being in the back part of the manifold.

If the water temp gauge had been working, it probably would have been caught way before the damage was done.

Just like myself, sometimes you wait too long to fix something. Like my KDP.

Thats good advice, 83.

When this motor gets rebuilt we will probably change pistons, so we will check the oilers to see if they were plugged.

If you used any off market oil filters you can bet that this is the problem, as it has happened many times before. The problem seems to be that the filters start to delaminate and leave pieces of filter in the oil and that plugs the oilers.

The Red Rocket Lives

Well almost :)

If you have been keeping up then you would know that we killed a head gasket and burned up #1 and #2 pistons.

So we took the motor out of the wrecked red rocket and put it in the nephews truck. We had a valve job done on a head and Oringed the block and head, installed a PDR cam and lifters, plus welded a port into the oil pan for a oil return for a second turbo for the future. We set the timing at 20 degrees, replaced the battery's with Red Tops and installed a Southbend FE clutch.
