So I am doing a full tune up on my father in laws Goldwing, and when I drain the radiator... blue antifreeze. That is a new one on me.

The big question here is can I refil with good ol green, or do I have to find blue to fill it back up? If this was a car, I would have less qualms about it, just pull the thermostat and flush it out good, Not an option on the Goldwing. That is a good 3 hour job to pull the thermostat and reassemble to flush the system.

HELP! :{

Only blue stuff I have seen is Fleetguard ES Complete, Extended Life Coolant. It is propylene glycol.

I would simply call the dealer to determine the coolant brand/type.

Note: Motorcycle Consumer News investigated a rash of water pump seal failures in Gold Wings and concluded the cause was from silicates found in regular automotive antifreeze. Be certain to use Honda motorcycle coolant or automotive coolant that is silicate free!

Yeah, and I am going on my fourth on my Valkyrie... go figure.

Where can I get a copy of this report. I need ammo to fight Honda on warranty. Last pump only made it 2500 miles, and I used the stuff recomended in my Honda Shop manual, not the owners manual, the actual shop manual.

engine ice is blue... good stuff. I use it in all my ATV's

Love this stuff. Use it in my YZ 426. My bike doesn't spew antifreeze anymore if it sits too long ideling. Excellent stuff. :cool:

I have a YZ426 too, and yeah it solved my spewing problem. Bike seems to have a bit more pull going up the big dunes.
