Anyone have any feedback on the Blue Chip Diesel Blue Box. I have mine on for a month now and am very pleased. It came with very legible, simple instructions to aid installation. The insulation on the wires was heavy, the scotch connecters provided were a newer type than the ones I have had problems with, it was well packaged etc. prompting confidence in the product. Bottom line - it goes like h***. Talk about opening Pandora's box (note the box link). I could not wait for Mark's device since I was dying from anxietypation. I am sure his device is great as well. If anybody has questions I would be happy to entertain them since I like the product and I like this techanical rap.

PS Dr. youknowwho would not let me on his dyno - think about it.

Do you get a lot of black smoke when you step on it? I hear they put out a lot of black smoke. Thanks for the info.

And what about fuel economy? Have you compared it to pre-installation figures? Of course if you're having lot's o' fun your mileage probably took a dive for sure!

I too have been around the "Blue Chips" box, and it does work as advertized! I have also seen the one from TST, (Mark Chapple)and it is also a good one! As I recall, the Buebox was a bit more money.

In either case, make sure if you have the Automatic, you upgrade the Torque Converter!

Good morning from the left coast. Hey TerryTT, thanx for the interest in my new go fast box. The answer to your question is at times I have seen some smoke, but not all the time. When I first nailed it I thought the smoke was white, like a build up of carbon from normal driving. I have at times seen a minimal amount of black colored smoke. Of course my vantage point is not the best, I'm usually holding on tight and trying not to run over any more telephone poles than necessary.

Vaughn I just got back from Kellogg ID, and I got 24mpg on one stretch of freeway, and most frequently 22mpg @ 70/75 mph. Now as I was mentioning to another rammer, I usually leave the go box off. That's right, it has a switch on it so if your concerned about mileage (everbody is) you can "just say no" to horsepower. But when the mood strikes, a big smile appears in the rear view, switch on and hold on. So back to your question, I have not left it on long enough to compare with/without. Having the ability to turn it off is like having two different motors under the hood, where if you go to big injecters (and I probably will) I don't think you have the same flexibility. Also the device doesn't start to add fuel till you get into it (approx. 1/2 throttle) and only when switched on.

Not to get everybody in an uproar, but I heard from the diesel mechanic at my local dealer that he is testing the beta version of an add-on box for the ISB that will produce 300HP and 800lb-ft! Supposedly, it comes with a toggle switch as well.

I don't know the brand, but will do some investigative work.

Pleasure to reply to you amsoilman. I driven trucks, and of course I was weaned on a hotrod "67 SS Camaro (Muncie 4-sp), so I have always shifted my own gears. When I bought my ram I percieved the auto as the only weak link, especially when contrasted against the life expectancy of the Cummins. I opted for the 5sp. I have a license to play, especially when the pavement has a little moisture on it.
By the way Amsoilman, guess what's inside the 5sp, lsd, airbox, crankcase, - that's right.

Thanx for wading in on this topic CCollar. My device is supposed to be runnin over 250 hp, and is already obsolete. Blue Chip now has 3 boxes with different levels of performance. I was told the old Blue Box is similiar to the middle level, or "stage 2". I was trying to get my rig dyno'd, but ran into some resistance up in Kellogg. Anyway I might trade mine in for the new "stage 3" box since it would only cost me a little shipping. BC told me with the "stage 3" box, new injectors, and upgrade the turbo housing I then would have 360 hp at the wheels. Wow, just thinkin' about is makin' me crazy.
Well I'm off to work - I need more money to trade for more stuff.

he he he

Diggin' through some of the old stuff, for old times' sake #ad
I thought with Ted reflecting on the fact there are 15,000 posts associated with the 12-valve forum (though it included 24-valvers too for a while) it would be fun to take a look back.

Look how innocent hvac was in those days. We can now see it all started with an innocent little Blue Box. He's gone from docile to an all out full-blown Diesel Superpower #ad
And graduated to HVAC from hvac. Little did we know in Aug 1999 how far he would lead this diesel horsepower revolution #ad

We moderators aren't sure what happened, but this topic got "locked" accidentally. I just "unlocked" it. This is an old thread from back in August of '99, before the 24V forum existed.

WOW! Look at the little diesel toddler #ad
Yup, the blue box sent me on a serious power quest. What a long strange trip it's been.
Just got back from a tour of Cummins West yesterday. They were surpursed at the little inline six "Signature 600" under my hood. I got to give a few folks rides while some of the boys dynoed their trucks. I was driving on a tri-oval surface street circuit around the facility. I got pretty good at diving into the corners in 3rd and flooring it coming out. When the boost came up the back tires lit up and the tail headed for the fences #ad
Quite a handfull to drive. I need traction bars now to control the rear axle cause the tires are even breaking loose in 4th #ad
I have to chuckle when I read about low power problems #ad

See ya at May Madness.

Sheesh. . it's like watching a guy have a few drinks, and then watch him slowly turn into a raving alchoholic!!!

In this case, a diesaholic!

How long will it be before we hear this in group therapy...

"Hi, my name is HVAC and I'm a dieselholic"...

"Doctors around the world are now convinced that diesel is far more addictive than any narcotic around the world. Kids, just say "NO" to diesel.

Quoting Mr. Clinton; "When I was in college, I too tried diesel... ... but I did NOT BOMB!!"

Couldn't help being silly here.

G'day!

HVAC... traction bars? No NO NO... do not defile that MOPAR with traction bars (inventions of the Mopar-challenged desperate to find a way to launch like the Mopar-enabled). You need to get "drop" spindles on the front of your truck (or perhaps just softer springs), and then put the rear axle above the springs, like cars do. Then, you need to have some custom built springs that mirror the design of the old "super stock" springs that went on the back of old Mopar "A" and "B" and "E" bodied musclecars from the byegone eras. There are experienced spring builders who know how to create the right reaction when you apply the torque and "launch" that little red demon off the line.

There's quite a science to it, but to make a long story short, your truck needs to rise slightly when you powerbrake it. The spring on the passenger's side needs to have just slightly more stiffness than the driver's. This was mostly accomplished by having a LOT of stiffness in the part of the spring in front of the axle, and less to the back. To launch effectively, you need a pinion snubber that's about 1/4 to 1. 5 inches above the nose of the differential, to prevent excessive axle windup. Of course, this is if you're really serious about getting that thing off the line... #ad

I'm sure we could find you a couple of experts... Just pick up a "mopar action" magazine and find a couple vendors for springs, or a racer who does chassis work. Don't... I repeat... DO NOT try to use a chevy expert #ad
They don't have a clue #ad

Thanks PW, I am in the heat of the wheel/tire battle at the moment. Hope to get some data tomorrow. We may need to use some adaptors to get to a 6 lug bolt pattern to provide a wheel with the back spacing we need. Then find tires with the height to match the front.

I suggest you purchase a box of "Depends" for you business associate. I hope to take him for a ride on my way up to the event Scott1 is promoting in Calgary. I took a few years off some of my passengers lives yesterday. Nothing unusual about a diesel truck cornering like a winston cup car and coming outta the corner sideways right??? Normal 4th gear wheel spin of course. 100 mph in town is typical right??? Put him on notice, I may need a defribulator #ad
Just a little inline 6 Cummins, coming to tear his head off!!! #ad

I have the blue box on mine and I get some awesome power and a lot of smoke.
